1. Introduction
TickSafe is a mobile application for AI-assisted tick detection on pets. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights under GDPR.
2. Data We Collect
We collect the following data:
- Pet names — entered by you during onboarding. Stored locally on your device only. Never transmitted to our servers.
- Location data — approximate location used to calculate daily tick risk levels based on local weather conditions (temperature and humidity). Fetched via OpenWeatherMap API. Not stored or logged on our servers.
- Camera — your device camera is used for real-time tick scanning. All image processing happens on-device. No photos are uploaded, stored, or transmitted.
- Scan history — dates and results of your tick checks (clean / found). Stored locally on your device only.
- Notification preferences — whether you opt in to reminders and alerts. Stored locally.
- Subscription data — if you purchase a subscription, payment is processed entirely by Apple Inc. through the App Store. We do not have access to your payment information.
- Crash reports and diagnostics — anonymized technical data collected via Apple's standard crash reporting. Used to fix bugs and improve app stability.
3. How We Use Your Data
- To provide tick risk information relevant to your location
- To personalize in-app copy with your pet's name
- To log and display your check history in the calendar
- To send reminders you have opted into
- To diagnose crashes and fix technical issues
We do not use your data for advertising. We do not sell your data to third parties.
4. Third-Party Services
- OpenWeatherMap — receives your approximate location coordinates to return weather data. Subject to their privacy policy: openweathermap.org/privacy-policy
- Apple App Store — handles all subscription billing. Subject to Apple's privacy policy: apple.com/legal/privacy
5. Data Storage & Security
Pet names, scan history, and preferences are stored locally on your device using iOS standard storage. No account creation is required. No personal data is stored on our servers. Data remains on your device until you delete the app.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
As an EU resident, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Request correction of inaccurate data
- Request deletion of your data
- Object to processing
- Data portability
Since most data is stored only on your device, you can exercise most of these rights by deleting the app. For any other requests, contact us at the email below.
7. Children
TickSafe is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via an in-app notice. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
